Dishes from all over the world

Dishes from all over the world

January 26th is a date recognised by many and represents more than just a sunny day in the middle of summer. On this day, Australians celebrate Australia Day, a public holiday set aside to recognise our country’s merits, relax and enjoy recreational activities, and celebrate the nation that people from so many diverse cultures call home.

On Australia Day 2020, there are many activities and celebrations to take part in, right across the country. Two important ones are:

Australian of the Year Award Announcement

These awards are given by the National Australia Day Council each year on Australia Day to members of the public in each state and territory. According to Karlie Brand, CEO of the National Australia Day Council, the finalists represent the diversity of Australia and the many ways in which people achieve in various fields and contribute to our nation.

Citizenship Ceremony

Australia Day is also the day where more than 16,000 people choose to become Australian citizens. Citizenship symbolises unity and demonstrates a commitment to the Australian people, their values, and the future of the nation.

Aside from these big national events, the Queensland Government will also be organising an extensive programme of activities and celebrations throughout the State. These include free waterparks and pools in Brisbane and a large fireworks and music extravaganza on the Gold Coast. For those more inclined to relax and enjoy the sun, sand and sea, our great beaches are also waiting!

Gourmet Meals inspired by our diverse nation

Just like Australia celebrates diversity and the many cultures that make up our nation on Australia Day, so too is the Gourmet Meals menu inspired by the melting pot of people who call Australia their home. We celebrate multi-culturalism and Australia Day by incorporating a wide range of dishes that represent our customers’ different cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds.
