The COVID-19 virus is having a significant impact here in Australia and around the world. With everything going on, it’s understandable if you feel stressed, or begin to worry about how you will take care of the basics, including keeping you and your loved ones fed with healthy and nutritious meals.
The good news is that Gourmet Meals is remaining open for business and you will be able to get your meals delivered as usual. We wish to reassure you that we are also following recommended guidelines around food preparation and hygiene.
We already have strict hygiene protocols in place but are reinforcing these with an extra emphasis on hand washing and regular cleaning of surfaces. We are also advising our staff to observe social distancing, as well as contact with anyone who has travelled to risk areas overseas.
We have put policies in place that any staff member showing flu-like symptoms is not to come to work. If it is suspected they might have contracted the novel coronavirus they will not be able to return until they have clearance in writing from a medical practitioner.
As per advice from Food Standards Australia New Zealand, “Transmission through food is unlikely and there is no evidence of this occurring with COVID-19 to date, however investigations into how the virus spreads are continuing.
Our suppliers have advised there is no shortage of the products we require for your meals. However, we are increasing stocks in case this changes and currently have enough for the next few months. Ensuring business continuity is a critical element of our planning, so the situation will be very closely monitored. If anything changes we will notify all our customers immediately.
We have a large pool of staff members we can draw upon to cover for others who might be unwell, so delivery should remain uninterrupted. We have the meals and the logistics to get them to you!
How you can help us
To help protect our staff and customers and reduce the spread of the coronavirus, we are trying to go cashless. This is to minimise physical contact, as per social distancing guidelines. Paying by Visa, or a MasterCard debit or credit card, is therefore preferred.
We will pack your food delivery in an icebox and place it at your front door. If cash is your only option, or if you need help putting the meals away, just let us know and we will be happy to oblige.
